The Life on a Leaf total artwork was presented in the 55th Venice Biennale on the Personal structures exhibition, Palazzo Bembo, Venice, 1.6 – 24.11.2013
Jan-Erik Andersson’s video installation presenting the leaf shaped Gesamtkunstwerk Life on a Leaf is exhibited in the Personal Structures exhibition at the Palazzo Bembo in Venice. (The house is planned with architect Erkki Pitkäranta)
The exhibition, with artists like Yoko Ono, Arnulf Rainier, Hermann Nitsch, Roman Opalka, is a part of the official program of the Venice Biennale 2013. The videos show the construction of the house as well as the life in the ready built house, seen through the eyes of Adrian (6 years).
As a part of the installation the book about the house, recently translated into English, is presented on iPads. The book, which is based on Andersson’s PhD in Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, discusses the role of art and ornamentation in creating architectural total art works and ”Iconic Space”.
The Installation and the book is a way of presenting artistic research for a broader public.
